Despacito is a song from 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the single that became the most popular streamed song across the globe within 6 months. It was a blend of reggaeton and pop that not only drew attention to Latin music but also reggaeton. In 2015, there were two predominantly Spanish-speaking songs in Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. During the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017, however, 19 mostly Spanish songs made it to the Top 100 In 2020, there were 41 songs. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 in a bilingual version. Soon, other artists collaborated with reggaeton superstars including Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma with Medellin 2019. The mainstreaming of reggaeton was an issue for certain performers in the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, were keen to keep the look. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music, as well as various other genres was a typical procedure.
